STRAWBERRY FUMIGATION
Soil Fumigation has worked hand-in-hand with strawberry farmers for over 50 years to produce large, healthy yields of ripe, delicious strawberries.
TriEst Ag Group recommends fumigation for strawberry fields because the long, profitable growing seasons leave little time for the soil to recuperate between plantings. This means that the many different soil-borne pathogens inhabit the soil for many, many generations of strawberry plants and they thrive without a thorough treatment that soil fumigation with Chloropicrin provides.
Research with Chloropicrin products has shown that while they do shift the soil microbial composition, often they are simply reducing the abundance from harmful organisms and allowing beneficial organisms to thrive.
Additionally, Chloropicrin is able to promote levels of beneficial microbes like Trichoderma, Bacilius, and Pseudomonas. These microbes are important in root formation.
You can see evidence of this in this Apple trial that was done over the course of 2 years in Eau Claire, MI.
The Growing Solution
Maximizing plant growth and yield starts with healthy, disease-managed soil. Soil fumigation with Chloropicrin is a proven solution used worldwide to improve soil health and create a vigorous growing environment for strawberries. By rebalancing soil microbiology, Chloropicrin reduces harmful organisms while supporting beneficial ones.
Extensive university research shows that Chloropicrin and its blends provide effective management of soilborne diseases and nematodes. Healthier soil leads directly to stronger plants and improved crop performance. As a true fumigant, Chloropicrin moves efficiently through the soil and breaks down into natural plant nutrients within 10 to 14 days under optimal conditions. This short plant-back interval offers growers a key advantage over many other fumigants.
With its broad benefits, Chloropicrin is the most versatile fumigant for strawberry production, helping growers achieve higher yields, improved fruit quality, and a stronger return on investment.
STRAWBERRY PLANT NUTRITION

Dry Fertilizer: Ground Control Command
Ground Control Command is a poly-coated dry fertilizer that can be customized for any analysis and coated from 1-16 months. It offers a more uniform extended release and leaching protection.
The poly-coated fertilizers release plant nutrients slowly and continuously throughout the growth cycle. A single application of GC-Command controlled release fertilizer will supply optimal levels of nutrients for an extended period of time.

Liquid Fertilizer: Liberty Acres
Liberty Acres Fertilizer fertigation grade liquid fertilizer blends supply all key crop nutrients in a single blend that is compatible and approved for a drip irrigation system.
Liberty Acres Fertilizer has a full line of standard blends that can be customized to meet production goals or specific soil needs.

Foliar Nutrition: Metalosate Powered by Albion Technology
Metalosate Powered by Albion Technology uses natural amino acids to chelate the minerals. They are rapidly absorbed, translocated, and metabolized by plants upon application.
- Improves fruit production
- Increases quality
- Increases skin firmness and quality
- Longer fruit shelf life

Foliar Nutrition: Strawberry Program

STRAWBERRY IRRIGATION
Strawberries are very sensitive to drought stress at transplant, flowering, and as fruits develop. Productivity and uniform growth are often determined by how well strawberry plants are established at initial transplant. Fruit set can be negatively impacted if water becomes limited. An adequate supply of water can increase the number of flowers and fruits are produced as well as the size of the strawberries.
Making the right decisions while your strawberries are growing is important. Let TriEst Ag guide you with choosing the right irrigation system for your growing plans. We have decades of experience designing drip and fertigation systems that are completely manual to fully automated in open field, high-tunnel, and greenhouse production systems.
